About Broken Thistle Forge

Broken Thistle Forge started as a hobby—just one guy and a love for metalwork. As demand grew, it turned into a full-blown business. Like I said on the home page, I’m a 100% disabled Army veteran and a paraplegic from a car accident. But instead of letting that define my life, I grabbed it by the wedding tackle and built a fully custom, wheelchair-accessible shop from the ground up. That includes a modified anvil, custom benches, and tools designed to work from a chair—because the standard setups just don’t cut it.

I’ve been a welder for over 15 years, mostly in ornamental ironwork, and even spent nearly four of those years welding from my wheelchair. Metal’s been a constant in my life—from building projects in friends' shops, to welding on any thing from tanks to towers in the Army, to finally opening my own forge and shop in 2018.

At Broken Thistle Forge, I specialize in fully custom knives. Every design starts in CAD, and I don’t begin a build—or charge a dime—until you’re 100% happy with the design. I believe excellent customer service is just as important as top-tier craftsmanship. That means personal attention, clear communication, and a smooth, no-BS experience from start to finish.
